Trap Door cake

My first crack at cake decorating, as done for my boyfriend 's birthday the other day. It's a sponge cake topped with coloured icing, some of which being coloured with gel colours and being modelled into Berk, Boni and Drutt. It was very delicious.

Any tips on cake decorating in general would be appreciated.
